Speed Sets

You get your heart rate to max, you feel the burn. Your arms are burning from the effort, you touch the wall. You glance up and you get just the right time.

It how I always want to feel after a work out, but lately, I’ve been just cruising, even less than cruising lately. I hate coming back off a break and seeing where I’m at. The test sets never seem to go well, and my shoulder is just a bit tight. It takes forever to get back up to speed. A few weeks ago, I was down hitting some good pace 150s, but now… Not even close.

The problem is that I will take the next 3 weeks to get back to pace, and I’m in for a half marathon in a few weeks. It will probably beat me to a pulp, but I know I can finish. Well, I guess it’s just back to the grind stone. Three weeks of nice long 1:30 pace work to get some endurance back.

I’m debating slowing down and upping the yardage and time until it fits where I want to be, then just bringing the pace up over the next few weeks. We’ll see if it helps at all. Honestly, I feel defeated before I even start these days.
