Take Five

Dave Brubeck looked a lot like Jeff Goldbloom. But today was a take five day, I sat and listened to him in the car to and from Amarillo. The cadence just caught me and wouldn’t let go.

It’s like reading Allen Gingsberg’s Howel and just knowing that there’s a way this should be read. The words flow and move in a way that underscores the meaning of the words. It’s a type of eloquence that you just don’t run into, and I have a little theory that in writing it comes from the early 20th century.

Take Five comes from 1959 though, it isn’t early, but the beat just sweeps me up with it.

It makes reading easier to have something like that in the back ground and remembering it comes easier with a tune. Either way, it was a chill way to spend a drive.
