This turkey was my running partner on Monday.
The turkey didn’t make it very far, just running out of sight… In the wrong direction.
But it was a good run for me, the first day back on track in a while. My head seems to have finally come around to the fact that I want to be back in shape. After the last two months of fumbling starts and getting to the pool only to leave after a couple hundred yards, it was nice to get out for a long and challenging run.
Palo Duro’s Rock Garden Trail always manages to supply, it’s a little over 2 miles to the top and a 600 foot elevation climb. Small ups and downs were cut through a boulder field followed by a nice smooth trail along some steady up hills along a ridge and then leading up the side of a ridge until you reach the rim of the canyon.
Then, back down again.
A little later, I managed to sneak in two miles in the pool which made the day that much better. That’s the farthest I have made it in months. It’s not far enough to really count as much, but I’ll take a small victory.
I’m sore, but I can’t wait to get back into the routine over the next couple of days.
