We took the girls swimming in Clovis, NM.
Which would have been exciting if our car hadn’t died on the way out of the pool. The battery went out which took out the power steering and stability control. We had barely left the spot when the engine just gave up and quit.
Not a problem, except the Toyota place in town closes their service department at 5 pm on Friday for the entire weekend.
Thankfully the Ford place will work on it and took it on Saturday.
Now we are waiting to hear what went wrong.
We know that the Rav4 has electric steering which draws power from the battery. So, I went out and replaced the battery and drove the car back to the house, but there was still a whine that I couldn’t explain and didn’t trust to drive us the 90 minutes or so back to Amarillo.
The whine could be a belt problem.
But more than likely it’s a alternator problem…
We’ll just have to wait and see.
Praise God it died in Clovis near our in-laws not in Hereford near the cattle yards. Although, to be fair, I know people in just about every town along the way, but this was pretty convenient as break downs go.
