In Colorado Springs last week, I spent some time scanning Craigslist for strollers.
Particularly, I wanted to buy a Bob double jogger, and leading up to our trip, several popped up on the list. Co Springs is such a fit place it really wasn’t surprising that so many people had bob strollers. They sold off like hotcakes for 10-20% off of the original price despite being any where from 2-5 years old. That’s some crazy value retention and none of these strollers lasted a night. So, we had to go with a new one.
Before we took the plunge I wanted to do some research and found what no one will find too surprising, the Bob stroller is pretty dang popular. it’s only flaws were shared with other strollers with tires instead of plastic wheels – i.e. they get flats – or problems shared with all double strollers – i.e. not fitting in SUVs or small cars. The latter seems to be false. The Bob will fit in our Rav4 or in our Civic (if we take the wheels off). That’s not bad for a double stroller.
Other aspects, this stroller turns like a dream, pushes like it weighs nothing at all (one finger is enough with a couple of kids in it), the sun shades work great for our two year old and our five month old (the former playing with the shade and the later very well sheltered from the sun). We opted for the swivel wheel which locks in place for runs, and we haven’t run with for any distance yet. However, for short distances it turns great. The static wheel is cheaper, and I think it would have worked fine for jogging, but not much else.
Ok, in this price bracket, no one is surprised to find a great stroller, but I thought I’d throw out a few other models for people to consider when looking at the Bob. I’m happy with our choice, but one of these might fit your needs better.
These strollers look incredible, but I decided to go for the Bob. A few people on line that preferred these to the Bob. So, do your research and see what you like best. There are joggers in cheaper price ranges, and we almost went for one of those. You can pick what you pay, but hopefully, you end up with something you love. My wife and I are really looking forward to getting back to running now that we can take the girls with us to cooler places and more fun trails.
